The Gauntlet Forums Are Closing
I don’t suppose anyone knows if there are good ways for preserving conversations? Especially in long threads?
I’m not set up just now to wrangle IRC, but it looks like the Archive Team’s ArchiveBot can handle Discourse fairly well, if someone would like to submit the base forum URL for archiving as described in the Details section of the ArchiveBot wiki page. The content ultimately winds up in the Internet Archive.
The NSR discord server has a sister forum, The RPG Cauldron, that is also powered by Discourse. It’s worth checking out if people prefer this sort of format for a discussion space.
One of the first posts I saw was scenario writing theory. I think this is a forum for me. Thanks for the link. [edit] Looks like it’s heavily leaned towards OSR, just like this forum was leaning heavily towards PbtA.
I just want to say how impressed I am with the site’s functionality and the good discussion. Thanks.
I do really like the Discourse forum format. Do you think it would be possible for the Cauldron to welcome a lot of non-OSR chatter? Or would that kind of migration be seen as an imposition?
I had the same reaction.
I think it’d be welcome: there are already channels in the NSR Discord to talk about indie games, PbtA, Blades in the Dark, etc.
It is, heavily, but they are an open community and are open to discuss more story-game like things as well. Since NSR kind of grew out of the OSR, the OSR style is what most are familiar with discussing, but there are a few of us story gamers around there as well. The forums are a bit silent though. The main activity of this community is on their discord server, where they have a separate channel for story gaming.
Is there a way to export an individual thread?
Is there a particular date when this will happen? It would be nice to save some of our material here before it goes. Thanks!
No particular date, Sometime in August. I recommend you do not delay.
