Trophy Gold Incursion Contest - Read the Entries!

Hey everyone! These are all so good! I wrote The Soul-Sword Forge, an incursion about imprisonment, restriction, and binding. This incursion is the first of four planned incursions, each of which is based on one of the four Tarot suits. If anyone wants to read through it, you can find the link here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lwDDsXF87g1fK2XGaD0xpwn6O_XvG6oTamAgqEULKwI/edit

Additionally, I am planning on doing my own review of the incursions on my blog for anyone who wants to opt-in. If anyone is interested in getting an additional review of their incursion and some publicity let me know.

After months of having an idea and not writing a single word, I put “Once More Into the Fire” onto paper yesterday. Theme: Calcination.

I’d love feedback if anyone wants to read it themselves https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kQP2SyszBmwcBUhS_amwCEtnuVShpQZV7P4CLSsUCUU/edit?usp=sharing

Hullo!

I wrote The Black Box of Gondallion, an incurso completely set around one sibgle box. I wanted to explore the ability of thesets to be as big or as small as desired and finally decided to go small. It tells a story of Redemption through the classical antagony of paladins and demons. It is the first time I write an incursion for Trophy and the first time I take part in a rpg contest so I am pretty sure I won’t win any prizes, but I had an incredible time writting the incursion and I’d love to read your comments and opinions in the document. Thanks a lot!

Hey all! I wrote Hissing Darkness, a dark sci-fi incursion about exploring and surviving an impossibly massive, and engulfed by malevolent darkness, Ship. It’s probably overambitious, and has too many commas, but hey, it was way fun to write! (plus I’m already planning on spinning it off into its own rooted in trophy game)

Looking forward to reading the rest of the entries that get shared, and hopefully offering up feedback to those who want it!

My entry is Undying Love, an incursion themed on Obsession. It’s an incursion set in the “core” Trophy world but with themes of Gothic horror and a focus on investigation in a mostly urban environment.

My entry is “Harpy’s Maw.” Theme is “Tides.” I set it in the Trophy Loom world, and plumbed the crowdsourcing area for names and places.

Hi!

I wrote LĂ©thĂ© IV. It was inspired by a short Mothership adventure I wrote some times ago. It’s about a graveyard planet, the theme is “Oblivion”.

Thank you to Jesse and Jason for creating and publishing Trophy Gold! Thank you to the Gauntlet community for being a fine community of people where things like this happen. And THANK YOU to all who did the hard work of getting your ideas onto the page and putting your submissions out there to be judged. It is no small feat and in doing so you are all winning! And one final extra appreciation to all of you who were willing to post your incursions here for the rest of us to admire, learn from, and maybe to play. THANK YOU, ALL!

Hi everyone, I wrote Leviathan’s Bridge (theme: Mist). The concept for it comes from the visual art I used to do more regularly - mostly I just filled it with some of my favorite imagery. My intention was to present an incursion as possibly more of a pilgrimage in pursuit of knowledge. I also wanted to make the treasure hunters aware of being outsiders to a living culture who may not accept them and isn’t there to be conquered. Hopefully its an interesting variation on Gold incursions. Let me know what you think. -Gabriel

Hey, all!

Top of the World with a theme of ‘rooftops’ is my breakneck chase across the eaves and peaks of a great big Fantasy city ala Ankh-Morpork or New Crobuzon. Once its clear of judging, I’ll add the 2500-3000 more words I want it to have!

Anyway, feel free to check it out; I modified the Combat roll for Pursuit so you could substitute insane parkour moves for the usual sword-swinging.

We all need to visit Ankh Morpork at least once!

Aloha! I wrote Sea of Dust with the theme of “Dry”. It’s a race across a dry seabed and through a dead coral reef maze to recover treasures from a sunken ship that now sits in a vast salt-encrusted expanse.

It was hard to stay under the 5000 word limit because I had so many ideas. In the end, I decided it was easier to go the old school route of saying characters aren’t omniscient and sometimes things are just weird, so it isn’t necessary to provide an explanation for everything. I know why everything is there, but that knowledge isn’t needed by the treasure-hunters as they explore the incursion. They can theorize their own explanations or investigate further on their own if they can’t live without knowing.

Hi. I’m the author of Inherent Fears incursion. The incursion’s theme is “Inheritance”. It follows the hunters into a haunted estate of a dying relative as they try to avoid inheriting the family’s fate.

I love it! It captures that creepy transition from this world to another really well.

Thanks for the Nautilich. I think it was something I needed in my life but didn’t know that I did until I saw it.

I’d love to know what you all think about mine. Here it is: The Hollow Tower, built around the theme “Void.” https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Av3aLDkfvtSK_8oQ1GcOwSI1q8V4HJqS4pznB_C_WU0/edit?usp=drivesdk

Tremendous! Speaking as an artist and art teacher, the use of ink as a theme is breathtaking.
