World of Dungeons & hacks & iterations

Thanks for The Veil 2020 shoutout ^^ made my day

:waves: I’ve been working on a World of Dungeons “second edition” for a while, rolling in some of my favorite ideas from various places (things like overloaded encounter dice, basebuilding, and higher levels). I’m always happy to chat (endlessly) about it if you want to!

I would love to hear more about each of those things @Tam!

Hehe, endlessly? Because I have endless enthusiasm.

It’s pretty straightforward – I added in a bunch of class options and class moves/traits. My goal was to be able to “drop in” old D&D monsters with some on the fly conversion, and I feel like I accomplished it (for my own campaign anyway).

Advancement up to 10th is as expected, though I did streamline and refine “hit dice” a little to be leveraged by a custom spellcasting system and by other moves. After tenth, it’s a variation on UMF’s Manifest Power, basically custom niche moves tailored to the PC.

There’s a rudimentary “turn” system. Nothing too fancy, no initiative or anything, still conversational turns, but tracked. The GM ticks off a “turn” for every ten minutes/significant action, and then rolls a hazard die (inspired by Necropraxis) to see if anything happens (encounter, signs of one, reduced resources, things like that).

Basebuilding involves making a “character” for the area, with flexible stats and abstracted resource building, it’s still pretty rough.

I’ll see about getting the draft uploaded soonish, it’s just in the “embarrassingly messy” stage because I’ve been focusing on UMF instead (or hit me up on Discord if you’d like!).

Hey folks, I have been working on a WoDu hack and have a first draft finished. Gamma7 is my love letter to 70’s and 80’s post-apocalyptic media (Gamma World, Thundaar, Planet of the Apes, Kamandi…). It’s on the gonzo side. Any feedback’s welcome and I hope you enjoy it.

Hey folks! I had several criticisms of my format, so here is Gamma7, my gonzo, post-apocalyptic hack of WoDu in two formats booklet and screen (print 2 pages per page , landscape). Happy Halloween! (I added new stuff too.)

Looking forward to perusing this!

Here’s the version of WoDu I use, a slight remix in a playbook format. I also often use Wonder & Wickedness as a drop-in “Vancian” magic system when players ask for that sort of thing.

Is there an issue with that link? I just saw a blank page with the words “World of Dungeons”

FIXED!

Yes there must be. I’ll investigate what went wrong with the link.

I’ve just discovered a new one: Phasers and Photons (https://qwo.itch.io/phasers-photons) which looks to be a decent little Star Trek hack.

Apologies for the necro-thread, but I’ve been getting notifications from Google from people requesting access to these links, so I wanted to update them with links that actually work.
