4 Thursdays in May: Kingsport 1851 Part III

The Pacific Ocean, 1851: The bark Tethys continues its voyage into the deep waters of the Pacific, coasting along South America before taking the final plunge into a haunted unknown. This is the story of its crew and their dreams, delusions, and destinies.

Kingsport 1851: Strike At The Sun is the second part of a planned three-month run of Alas for the Awful Sea set aboard an American whaler sailing out of a haunted town in Lovecraft country. It shares continuity with other games in the Kingsport series, and is inspired by Melville’s “Moby-Dick”. I’ll be running four sessions on Wednesdays in April, and holding one spot for my long-time collaborator, Seraphina.

This series will deal with the subject of whaling; we’ll discuss how we wish to treat that as well as subjects including poverty, class distinction, racism, the nature of monstrousness, the silence of God, and the existential malice that animates the world. The total amount of Mythos content will be decided upon as a group. I’ll provide the historical and literary context as necessary.

Being able to attend each session is ideal, but not required. You must RSVP to each session you wish to attend.

This sessions will be around 3 hours long, and I’ll be recording them for inclusion in the Gauntlet video roundup. We will be using the X-card, lines and veils, and the open door policy. For more information on the Gauntlet’s safety tools, please refer to our Inclusivity Policy on the website (http://www.gauntlet-rpg.com/the-inclusivity-policy.html).
