Bell Songs (open series)

bellsongs
In a world without humans, small animals that inhabit the forsaken ruins seek their own path to survive and thrive.

https://rpgnatalie.itch.io/bell-songs (similar to Archipelago III or West Marches, but mechanically inspired by Delver and Blades In the Dark)

PG13 action-adventure, Mouse Guard in “aesthetics”, maybe Pixar/Dreamworks animation in “intensity”?

If you attend multiple sessions, you’re welcome to continue with the same character, but be aware that other players may be different each session. RSVP to specific session you will attend.

October (2019) sessions:
Bell Songs session 1 (open series)
Sunday, October 13, 2019 11:00 PMMonday, October 14, 2019 2:00 AM
Bell Songs session 2 (open series)
Sunday, October 20, 2019 11:00 PMMonday, October 21, 2019 2:00 AM

p.s. I’m only setting up 1 event now due to being in a different time zone at the moment than when the session will take place, and (due to paranoia  ) I want to be certain the date/time I indicate on the Events page will register correctly for others before adding more. For instance, the start time for session 1&2 should be New York time Sunday night 7pm.

I will try different time slots for future session(s). Still experimenting with different schedules.

These sessions are still relatively standalone, with potentially different participants each time. RSVP to specific session you will attend.

Is there a place that I could find recorded episodes or any information about the setting that you’ve discovered so far?

The game looks really cool. I’m excited to find out more!

Welcome to the Gauntlet forum!

Don’t worry about the setting. New participants only learn what they need to know at the beginning of play to support the other players for the session. In fact, we have yet to clearly define what “home” is like yet. The game can be played with each player character going on their individual adventure with other players playing NPCs as support, taking turns being the protagonist. Or play as a party and I play all the NPCs. In that case if the group only plays for one session, we can try to keep the adventure self-contained, or just hard-frame the ending/epilogue, such that any one playing more sessions can start off the next session anew.

But if you are really interested to see, I only have the very first session edited:

(I made many misinterpretation of the rules, which I will try to correct in future sessions  )

One of the players reached out to the designer and got some rules clarification for our benefit:

  • WHENEVER you want you can spend 3 rascality and choose a sliver of hope and it just happens (except the one that restores your rascality)
  • When you roll 3- you get a sliver of hope FOR FREE

I’m learning the rules myself. The GM-less style of play is really interesting. Its completely different than other approaches I’ve seen.

I’ll spend more time with the rules and give the video a watch. Both of those clarifications make sense. I would have got tripped up on them as well.
