Examples of Safety, Diversity, Empathy in games

Thanks for this response. I’ve played more and more characters unlike myself lately, but I’m worried about implications I’ll be blind to because of my privilege.

I’ve done more of the Hobbes approach. Playing characters like Chris Washington’s in Get Out requires a much more in-depth discussion with the table. I’m preparing to host a game of Harlem Unbound for my company, so I’ve been devouring articles like this in preparation because I think it’s clear I’ll be having one.

Solid article. Thanks for passing it on. Pretty much answers my questions above. I’ve bookmarked it for future and frequent reference. Will be passing it along to a few writer friends of mine too – the advice seems equally applicable to creating literary charcters with realistic cultural nuance and respect.

I made a one-page World of Dungeons/Turbo game that tries to put much of what is discussed here into practice: Be the Media. (Consider this an alpha release at best.)
