Tuesdays in April I will be running a 4 session series of Lacuna (Part I): The Creation of the Mystery and the Girl From Blue City, a surreal dreamlike sci-fi / horror / action / espionage RPG by Jared A Sorenson, published in 2006.
Sinister secret agents with shadowy employers and mysterious pasts. A bizarre landscape built from six-billion human minds. Arachnid-headed beings that guard a war-torn borderzone. And all the worst that Mankind has to offer, stalking the alleys and crumbling buildings of a place called Blue City. Is it a dream? Is it a nightmare? Or is it just a game… and are you already playing?
You play Mystery Agents who descend into a collective subconscious, Blue City, to hunt Hostile Personalities. However, Blue City and the corporation you work for, the shady Nasrudin Institute, have dark secrets. Think The Matrix, Dark City, or Inception, written by Franz Kafka, or David Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch / eXistenZ through the Cold War lens of John Le Carre.
Each session will last for approximately 3 hours. They may be recorded, and later uploaded to Youtube, if everyone is in agreement. Attendance at all four sessions is encouraged, but not required. The game may contain themes of violence, paranoia, mental illness, and intense psychological horror, and may contain characters who have perpetrated taboo crimes such as sexual assault or violence against children. Safety tools in use will include Lines & Veils, the X-Card, and an Open Door Policy.
