Welcome @WestyWilner, enjoy the community.
What do you most want to play this Autumn and why?
@Alun_R Thanks! Long-time lurker, first-time poster, got into this through the Fear of a Black Dragon podcast. Good to be here!
I think I’m finally going to get to try Masks, which is exciting!
FoaBD has me wanting to try World of Dungeons as well, right there with you!
I want to go back to running my OD&D hack and world building for a Dunsanian fantasy post-apocolypse.
My players seem intent on continuing to become the best hooligans in the land of fey, using 5E.
Spire and Heart, Trophy and Ten Candles for Halloween season, Blades in the Dark, also any simple to learn one-shot games that I can introduce to players who aren’t familiar with PbtA type games.
Sadly, the group I run games for at the local game store only wants to play 5e. But, I’d love to play something OSR (Moldvay, or maybe some 1e/2e) and some Burning Wheel.
Since I started working the night-shift, my chances to play anything have been very limited.
Current aspirational goals, though:
- play Shadows of Brimstone (technically a board game, but a good dungeoncrawl)
- play in a GLOG game (maybe in the works?)
- get my head together enough regarding system to run some-thing for my friends
I would really like to return to Freeport after a hiatus of many years, this time using Fate.
Games I love and am eager to play more of:
- Mouseguard
- The Wizard’s Grimoire
Games I can’t believe I haven’t gotten to the table yet:
- Archipelago
- Trophy
- Fall of Magic
Games that are new and intriguing:
- Miseries and Misfortunes
- Black Mass
If you’re willing to play online due to the craziness that is time zones there are plenty of games that get run during daytime hours on the Gauntlet calendar.
Don’t know where you are based but day time in the US is often ideal for an evening game in a GMT-adjacent zone. @Tylom and @JimLikesGames, are often to be found in GMT-ish sessions.
Time for an update on my original wish-list …
Settings … Currently …
GM-ing my way through the ‘Achtung! Cthulhu’ setting using my Achtung!Cthulhu Dark drift of CD.
The 2 x 2-shots of Night’s Black Operators (using the Operator rules to run the Night’s Black Agents setting I ran in August weren’t perfect but were a sufficiently positive proof of concept for me to put a series up in October.
Scion; Dresden Files; Soliman Kane; and 7th Sea … Still in the wish-list …
My system wishlist …
Band of Blades &/or Blades in the Dark - played in my first BoB session this week and goodness there’s a lot to keep track of in that system!
Tides of Gold - I ran this at a Con in August and it seemed a much more forgiving FitD than BoB, for instance. I’m wondering whether it (or Rapscallion … also on my system list) might bring 7th Sea to the table in Dec. … so technically missing Ng my Autumn window.
Urban Shadows; Sprawl &/or Veil - still on the list to scratch my Cyberpunk itch.
I have so few opportunities nowadays, I’d be happy to play just about anything.
probably the highest on my list though is the new Princess Bride RPG. Either that or Part-Time Gods 2nd Edition.
Honestly? Hearts of Wulin, heh. I’m a huge wuxia junkie and I’m excited to hopefully get the finished rules within the next couple of months. I’m hoping to get a PBF going once they come out!
I’d love to one day get to play Chuubo’s Imaginary Wish Granting Engine but…not holding my breath!!
Dito Hearts of Wulin but also, i’d love to have a crack at Good Society. There is so many things about that game that appeals to me.
off the gauntlet, I want to play the new Aberrant game in the Trinity continuum
My thanks to @Toby for prompting me to put a late arriving 2-shot of Rapscallion on the first two Sundays in Oct. Now that I’ve read the rules I’m not sure it’s going to be the perfect vehicle for 7th Sea … Seems much more Pirates of the Carib. However, I’ll know better after these 2 sessions. Either way it ticks another game off my system wishlist, so what’s not to like.
Feel free to waitlist as my player groups have been incredibly volatile this last month or so … The joy of Open Table!
I’m running a very intermittent ongoing online game of Freebooters on the Frontier, and for my face-to-face group I’m running an all-out Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign (props and everything), but what I REALLY want to do is enlist 8-12 of my students in a new Freebooters campaign where I break them into groups of 3-4 to create different parts of the world, start everyone out as level-0 villagers, and then have them tag-team in and out as their characters grow, live and die in the world they created. Too little time in this life.
Here’s my current wishlist of games I’d like to try out:
- Demigods
- Flotsam
- Hit the Streets (as a player instead of GM)
- Impulse Drive
- Kuro (have run once but never played)
- Root: the TRPG (scheduled to run, but would like to play sometime too)
- Sunset Kills
- Trophy (heard a lot of buzz about it, but haven’t tried it yet)
- Uncanny Echo
- Voidheart Symphony
