ZineQuest Hype Thread

Hello! I’m going to be launching my ZineQuest kickstarter on February11!

The New Tales of Oz is a lightweight, playing-card based system set in the world L Frank Baum’s Oz books. It’s fun, it’s silly, it’s for all ages, it’s a little political but not too political, and it’s using all of those lovely illustrations from the original editions of the books.

Come on by, check it out, hit that follow button to get notified when it goes live!

Here’s one I’m looking for. It’s by a french designer (and I’m french !), but it will be in both languages.
It’s about wandering in a strange mall. In order to find your lost friend … (see below)

About that lost friend … You can play a prequel of the game with this first exploration that presents how the game works and what it is about ! And you’ll be playing that lost friend just before he became lost.

The Love Balloon is a rules lite story game set on board the legendary cruise ship Cloud Nine!

GMless for 2-6 players, featuring diceless resolution system draped on top of a specific game structure mimicking the 80’s classic The Love Boat and enough tables for backstory, motivation, and hijinks to create over 18 million permutations!

Here’s a link to our pre-launch page.

And the actual KS preview.

Set to launch February 11!

This Valentine’s Day… won’t you float on The Love Balloon?

I am quite amazed by the 32 projects already launched
When working on my crowdfunding collection, I went into the situation where I added project, thought I was done, just to discover 2 up to 17 new projects ^^;
( I decided to do a cut at 8 pm ^^; )

These all look great, thanks for sharing everybody. I’d been thinking of participating with one of my own but didn’t feel like I had anything at the correct stage of readiness (lots of drafts, nothing nearing completion) but going to make sure I take notes from how all of these are structured in the hope I can participate next year.

There are so many amazing creators here in one place. This year’s ZineQuest has already been exciting, illuminating, and inspiring.

Most of you already know this, but I’m writing first-looks into projects. I’ve already written two, and my third, a preview of Alexi’s own The Great Soul Train Robbery, will be posting tomorrow morning. Hopefully, I can keep writing fast enough to look at Candlelight, Campfire Memories, and others.

Well I’ve gone and done it… As some of you may remember from Slack over the last two years, I created a game to run with my student RPG group. Originally designed for quick pick-up, world-building, and scalable to 10-12 players (but best 3-5), it is now playtested, designed, and live on Kickstarter. Thanks to all my Gauntlet friends for inspiring me.

Twisted Rifters: A Game of Floating Signifiers is a tabletop roleplaying game about arcanically-deformed outcasts surviving on a floating island chain. Suspended by a sentient “rift” emanating from the caustic mantle below, the archipelago and its citizens desperately seek to restore the fragmented masses of Erstwhile to the surface. You have been twisted by the rift, possessing distorted powers that hint at the return of a long-absent magic. The Ersters fear and revere you. Some even seek to harvest your powers if it might slow the entropic splintering of the islands. All you know is that the world is breaking beneath your feet and you have some part to play in its salvation.

Candlelight is live - and funded! Please check it out and help me hit the stretch goals to bring some amazing guest writers to the game: Candlelight Kickstarter Page

You can also retweet the project as described under the Social Goals part of the page:

Upon reaching 33 retweets of the Candlelight project page, the game will include a series of sample characters for Candlelight, thematically grouped together in parties for quick play (and narratively connected backgrounds).

How to Participate: Retweet the project link for Candlelight and tell us about the death of one of your characters from any roleplaying game, using the following format:

"I was (name/title). I was known for (famous deed or memorable quirk).

In the end, my doom was (manner of death). Who will remember me? #ToTheLost" bit.ly/candlelight-rpg"

Spirit of Adventure - Hex Crawl is my ZineQuest Kickstarter this year:

It is a solo hex crawl adventure across a mysterious island.

In the spirit of old school hex crawls like the Isle of Dread, the map is a hex crawl adventure across a mysterious island filled with pirates and dinosaurs and mystery. Manage your food, crew and the lives of your party as you face incredible challenges.

Thanks for checking it out!

Rebel Crown is a tabletop roleplaying game of courtly intrigue, obsessive ambition, and perilous conflict.

One player takes on the role of the Claimant, former heir to the throne who was betrayed by their family and robbed of their rightful titles. Others play their most stalwart allies: wise chancellor, devoted knight, idealistic noble, vengeful soldier, or opportunistic outlaw. Conflicting duties and ambitions will push them into points of tension, but their commitment to the Claimant’s ascent ties them together.

Rebel Crown is feudal intrigue Forged in the Dark. This dense zine contains a player-driven campaign across a haunted kingdom. The Claimant and their retinue must expand their domain through diplomacy and force, until they are strong enough to seize the throne they were denied.

Asymmetrical playbooks make character relationships core to game play, and encourage a shared spotlight between the players. A clear campaign structure provides an endpoint to play toward and a decisive finale. As a group, you play to find out whether the Claimant can take their throne and what sacrifices must be made along the way.

I, too, am doing this and shamefully self-promoting. My zine is a collection of short poetry games called Sedentary Dances. It’s silly and weird, but motivated by pure love of poetry, games, and telling stories with friends.

Today I launched my campaign for Accessible Gaming Quarterly, a magazine about accessibility and disability in the TTRPG scene.

This project is a collaboration with many diverse contributors and will include many articles relating to playing, GMing, and designing games with accessibility in mind.

I run The Great Soul Train Robbery on the latest episode of the Bored Ghost podcast! Tune in to hear what happens when a Cattle Rustler and Blind Drifter board the train to Hell in search of one Delilah Cunningham—though one seeks to destroy her and one to redeem her.

@Bohnhoff - that’s a game? Sounds is like my childhood vacations!

Ha! Mine too.

That’s kinda the point! The game simulates some experiences that everyone has. And part of the fun is that people can share their own stories.

Howdy! Today my ZineQuest Kickstarter for The Great Soul Train Robbery wraps up. It’s been an exciting ride! We cleared 12 stretch goals and recruited collaborators like @jesseross, @linfin, and Leah Sargeant. (For that last stretch goal, we’re writing a re-skin of the game where instead of Desperados robbing the train to Hell, you are Freebooters raiding the Armada of the Damned!)

We’re about $150 away from our very last stretch goal, where I write a conversion so you can play The Great Soul Train Robbery as a Trophy Incursion. Chip in today to help us finish strong!
